The Community Christmas Toy Store (CCTS) is hosting, with the help of Ortonville United Methodist Church, the July 25th Beets, Beats, and Eats in Crossman Park. The Christmas Food and Fun begins at 6 p.m. The menu for the night is grilled brats for the adults and grilled hot dogs for the kids. A complete dinner is $7 for an adult w/brat and $4 for a child w/hot dog. The rest of the meal includes baked beans, chips, a homemade brownie (no nuts), and all you care to drink lemonade or ice tea. This is a fund and friend
raiser for the CCTS.
The will also be collecting toys for needy children in our community for Christmas 2014, which is exactly six months away. Please bring an unwrapped toy and put it in the toy box. The CCTS makes sure that no needy child in the Brandon School District area goes without a Christmas.
A special gentleman that likes to wear red, loves cookies and milk, rides in a sleigh, has a herd of reindeer (one has a red nose that glows), and he goes Ho, Ho, Ho when asked a question, will be visiting that evening for some check-in questions of all good little girls and boys. He will also have some sweet treats for good big and little boys and girls. This special gentleman will be there between 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. and if it is HOT, he’ll be in shorts!! Not his fur pants and coat!! For more information contact Betty Stewart at 284-627-3324.
Development of the website began on October 3, 2013 and went live on the internet October 29, 2013. Internet users can browse the website at http://www.BrandonCCTS.org. Here you will find an array of information about the Community Christmas Toy Store such as: their mission statement, an interesting history of the toy store, pictures, donation locations, contacts, a calendar, an interactive FAQ page,
as well as a privacy statement and disclaimer. Also, users are able to make a tax free financial contribution via Paypal, and receive a donation receipt immediately following their successful donation submission directly from the website.
Local resident and website specialist, Anthony Randazzo, has donated his time and talents to the design and maintenance of the website, as a way to give back to the community. But CCTS didn’t stop there. The need for the toy store is growing and in order to help complete their mission this year, CCTS President Linda Mizejewski, and CCTS Treasurer Janet Kurnat sat down with Greg Normand, OTV Channel 99, on November 7 for an interview regarding the store.
The, very moving and heartfelt interview, is due to air on channel 99 throughout November and December,
with the possibility of short commercials airing throughout the same time line via channel 99, and will also be uploaded to the CCTS website for viewing outside the local area.
The Community Christmas Toy Store has helped many children of financially strapped families throughout the Brandon School District in the previous 31 years, and due to the current economy, the need continues to grow. Their mission is basic, simple and right to the point “To See That No Child Is Left Out At Christmas”
So please visit them on the web, drop off a small new unwrapped gift at one of the local donation sites, or feel free to contact them at 1-248-795-5281 or email questions@BrandonCCTS.org for further information.
